Queen Behind Sabreen: Najiyyah
Heyyyyy! I'm Najiyyah, the chill and relaxed sister of Sabreen Cosmetics. My favorite movie right now is Black Panther! I saw it about three times it was so good. There are a lot of beauty influencers out here but my favorite ones are those who focus on the natural looks because that's how I like my makeup looks to be.
If you could describe yourself in one word what would it be?
You recently released a new collection. What do you enjoy most about creating this collection/product?
I really enjoyed receiving the first sample and trying them out to see if they are something we would love. After working with my sisters so diligently to create our new gloss to finally see it, is so huge for us since everything we do is custom.
The “Mover and Shaker” gloss was named after you? What makes you a “Mover and Shaker”?
I think what makes me a Mover & Shaker is that fact that I always make things happen even when it seems impossible. I always take what I have, use it to my advantage and turn it into a better situation.
What’s it like working with your sisters?
At times we butt heads because we have difference of opinions because we ultimately want the best for Sabreen. But that's the wonderful thing about working together is that we are a family business and we are always able to pull through together.
What do you like to do outside of the company?
I enjoy going to sporting events, poetry slams, listening to music and hanging out with my co-workers.
As a girl boss what are your go to things for self-care?
Self-care is so important to me especially with my career and working with Sabreen. I take mental health days at work, I try to get monthly massages, exercise regularly and sometimes go on monthly diets.
What are your must haves while working?
I think I'm very simple when it comes to my working must haves. The only thing I really need is my laptop, cell phone and a nice cup of tea.
What are some of your dreams and aspirations for the company?
To continue to inspire and educate women of color and set an example for younger women to look up too!
